Our comprehensive approach goes far beyond traditional job placement. With over 20 years of experience, Marks JCH has developed a rigorous workforce development system that annually places over 2,000 adults in employment and training opportunities. Our multilingual, culturally-sensitive staff provides holistic support, helping clients adapt their skills to the US job market, improve their English, prepare for interviews, and keep their jobs long-term. A hallmark of our success is our “360 degree” approach, where we don’t just focus on job or language skills — we look at everything that a client needs to take full advantage of classes or job training programs. Whether a client needs help with housing, childcare, mental health supports, or countless other services, we are their one stop shop for comprehensive assistance.
City-wide English as a Second Language (ESL) courses have months-long waiting lists, and many immigrant communities are urgently seeking options to improve their English while preparing for new careers. By expanding to Sunset Park and Sheepshead Bay, we’re meeting clients where they live. At the same time, we still are the anchor of self-sufficiency programs in our home community of Bensonhurst. Our track record speaks volumes: over the past 15 years, we’ve trained 4,500+ individuals for new jobs, provided ESL to 20,000+ clients, and successfully placed 9,000+ clients in jobs, with 70% achieving job retention beyond 180 days.
We extend our thanks to New York City Council member Susan Zhuang, who made the connection between the Marks JCH and the nearby Asian Community Center, located in Sunset Park, and also secured expanded NYC funding for these expanded services.
