Join Joy Ziegeweid of the Domestic Violence Project for an in-depth exploration of abuse, with a specific focus on its impact on women. This workshop prioritizes listening to the narratives of women, aiming to answer the question, “Is this abuse?” from legal and clinical perspectives. Participants will gain an understanding of definitions, awareness around signs and risks, and consider pathways to healing. Key topics include legal definitions, the role of the legal system, and clinical approaches for supporting abuse survivors. Through an examination of women’s narratives, the event sheds light on their experiences. Additionally, we will touch on societal factors such as immigration status and disability as contributing factors to vulnerability. This course is geared towards social workers, legal representatives, case managers, therapists, counselors, and others.
