Shabbat and Holiday Celebrations
Holidays are a community event at the Marks JCH. Our center highlights 3 major holidays out of the year with festivities and carnivals.
December brings us Chanukah and we bring the community our Annual Chanukah Festival. This year, 2008, the Festival will take place on December 21th from 12pm to 3pm, we would love to see you there. 70+ teens gather early in the morning to set up the gymnasium into an old city. Here on the city streets you can make a dreidel out of clay, a menorah out of edible materials, and even receive a prize for doing everything! While the children make and play, the adults are invited to watch a wonderful performance by our School of Music and Dance students or just wander our magical streets with the kids.
March brings us the festivities of Purim. The costumes are plenty and so is the fun. Once again our wonderful teen volunteers gather in the morning and transform the gym into Maccabi town. Where everything is bright and funny. Mask making, crown making, and various games are spead out throughout the gym. Our School of Music and Dance yet again is performing some wonderful numbers, and our center rings with celebration.
Yom Ha'atzmaut will be celebrated this year in April. A big celebration commemorating a big event, Israel's independence! One thing for sure about this event, blue and white will be the colors of choice!
All holidays of course are celebrated in the Marks JCH even Shabbat. Our After-School Center does the three prayers with our kids every Friday. And our synagogue with Rabbi Pollack comes together for services. Come by our synagogue and help us welcome Shabbat. |
