Dor Hadash Leadership Development Program |
Dor Hadash Leadership Institute was created in September 2006 to begin to address the imbalance of involvement of Russian-speaking Jews in established New York Jewish community as volunteers and lay-leaders. In almost three years, this project has engaged nearly 70 young professionals in educational programming and volunteering; has connected them to the general Jewish community and helped them establish meaningful networking opportunities; gave the participants language and knowledge to be advocates for Israel and created a long-term plan for further involvement. We emphasize the Jewish values of kehila (community) and avodah (service) for their community. Through a vigorous educational sessions, participants are exposed to various points of view about the issues facing the Jewish Community today; and get a comprehensive overview of the vast network of Jewish agencies that address these issues - ranging from poverty of seniors in a particular neighborhood to global anti-Semitism and world opinion of Israel.
