The Marks JCH has been partnered with the city of Kiryat Menachem, Jerusalem, as part of a cultural exchange program. Our two Jewish community centers have been sending delegations back and forth for many successful years. These delegations have resulted in many successful idea exchanges, the most important being long lasting friendships. There are two more delegations scheduled to visit Kiryat Menachem this year.
The first delegation is a cadre of Jewish Young adults, who are learning about the Jewish values of Tzedakah, community & Tikkun Olam. They will work with their Israeli counterparts on several volunteer projects around the community.
Our last trip for this year will be a group of ten teenagers who will be organizing and running a week long camp for the community kids during Chanukah. Among the children who will be attending the camp will be recent immigrants from the FSU as well as Ethiopia. The Bensonhurst teens who will be running the camps have previously experienced Israel and are among our most dedicated summer day camp staff.
