A New Program providing a great opportunity for Baby Boomers to create a secure and happy future.
Immigrants, who are over 40, experience the most difficulties in achieving self-sufficiency in a new country. This situation becomes even more urgent and obvious during the current financial crisis. Newly arrived and middle aged immigrants who lost their income are not able to find or secure jobs. They cannot utilize their educational and vocational background to its full extent and they are not familiar with or able to use new technologies and other resources for bettering their careers. They also lack a supportive network system, which native born residents have.
The Career and Business Transition Center (CBTC) target population - unemployed and underemployed Jewish immigrants from the FSU who are 40 years of age and older, mostly residing in the Brooklyn area, have the above mentioned problems.
Career and Business Center (CBTC) is a comprehensive program which will focus on planning the economical future of every program participant and make this future a reality. We provide job, career and educational counseling and planning. Those clients interesting in opening their own businesses will be offered small business education and micro lending opportunity (in collaboration with the HFLS). Ongoing case management will ensure the highest level of individual attention and implementation of career and job change plans in real life.
We continue to run the Bensonhurst Business Club as a self-governing and self –supporting entity using the experience, expertise and commitment of successful business people as mentors to support and navigate start up businesses. We continue our collaboration with the HFLS (Hebrew Free Loan Society) in the provision of our highly effective joint Bensonhurst Business Institute (BBI) and microenterprise lending program.
For every client, we create an individualized career change plan with concrete steps to be taken in order to achieve this desired positive change, which will ultimately lead to an increase in economic self-sufficiency and labor market participation.
The implementation of the individual career change plan will be secured by ongoing client assistance and case management until the projected outcomes will be achieved. These outcomes include job obtainment, securing of financial assistance or small business financing, training course graduation or opening of a small business.
We use the CBTC technology platform by regularly connecting with clients and offering them fresh and real job openings from our own job bank.
We are offering computer classes and educational workshops by staff and BBC members (professionals / volunteers). We also created a JOB CLUB to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for our clients.
Our planning for the financial future of our CBTC clients includes individual counseling, which will cover the following topics, especially important for those who started their American careers at a later age: Contact: Lyubov Mikityansky Financial Planning Consultant 718-331-6800 ext. 168
