Membership in the Marks JCH of Bensonhurst is available to all who wish to participate in the agency's programs, support the agency's growth, subscribe to its objectives and abide by its rules and regulations.
Annual membership fees are payable at the time of enrollment and run for one year from that date. In case of financial challenges, financial aid may be arranged confidentially. Membership fees are non-refundable and nontransferable. To save time and avoid embarrassment, it is the agency's policy that prospective members present certain documents at the time of registration as proof of their membership category. Those applying for family membership must present birth certificates for all children. Married couples must present their marriage certificate. Single-parent families must document their status. Proof of age is also required for senior adults and teens.
Building Tour: The Marks JCH of Bensonhurst welcomes prospective members to take escorted tours of our facilities. No unescorted tours are allowed.
Membership Cards: Each "J" member is issued a membership card with their picture on it that must be shown at the security desk each time the member enters the building. After your picture is taken you can pick up your ID card within 2 days in the Cashier Office. Please report lost cards to the office immediately. Showing your membership card is part of a security system designed for members' safety. Please respect this and cooperate with the staff. Those not carrying a membership card may be denied admission. Non-members enrolled in "J" programs are issued a course card as identification, which they, too, must present to gain admission to the building. If you lose your membership card, a replacement is available at a $5.00 charge. Inquire at the Membership & Information Desk.
Photos: We ask that all new members be photographed for their membership cards. The “J” is pleased to take your photograph at no charge at the time of registration.
Guest Passes: All members are encouraged to bring friends and relatives as their guest. There is a nominal cost of $12 per guest visit, and this fee may be credited toward the cost of a membership if applied for within thirty days. Guest passes can be purchased up to 3 times per year. Only the fee for one guest pass may be credited toward the cost of a membership. People who would like to purchase a guest pass must have a photo ID with them. Please check our pool/fitness schedule for hours that guest passes can be used.
Corporate Membership: In an effort to promote good health among employees, the “J” is pleased to offer annual memberships to local businesses. For further information, contact the membership office.
Personal Responsibilities: The “J” expects its members and guests to behave and use our facilities in an appropriate manner. Inappropriate behaviors such as foul language, dangerous play, fighting or property damage may result in loss of membership. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.
Personal Assumption of Risk: Physical activity inherently carries such risks as bruises, scrapes, muscle pulls and more serious conditions such as heart attacks. Each participant assumes personal responsibility in the event of an injury sustained in the normal course of events.
Kashrut: The Marks JCH of Bensonhurst maintains Jewish dietary laws and we request the cooperation of all who use the facilities. All food brought to the “J” must be kosher and dairy.
