Job Placement and Vocational Training: The Marks JCH has an outstanding record of job placement, having placed thousands new Americans in their first jobs. Job Developers rely upon the Marks JCH’s extensive network of connections with area employers, comprehensive computer system for matching candidates skills with job openings, cultivated during the agency’s 15+ years of providing these services, to identify job opportunities, refer clients to jobs, follow up with clients and employers to ensure continuous employment. All job placement services are absolutely free and have the major focus of helping new immigrants including political asylum grantees and refugees become self-sufficient as soon as possible.
Our Employment Preparation Services ensure that clients receive a thorough assessment of their individual barriers to employment, along with focused plans to overcome the social, educational, and vocational barriers to their success. Employment Preparation include an introduction to the “World of Work,” pre- and post-placement job counseling, interviewing skills, resume preparation, job search skills, what to expect in the workplace, how to develop positive workplace relationships, and job orientation (carried out cooperatively with employers).
A broad range of Job Placement services include: Resume preparation Employment readiness counseling Job placement assistance Job skills training Referral to translation and evaluation of diplomas and documents City Job exam preparation Various professional training such as medical billing and coding, bookkeeping, computer courses, etc.
Our free supportive services for job seekers include: Consultations/assistance regarding educational grants, government entitlements Preparation to exam for citizenship Assistance with medical insurance Food assistance Furniture and clothes assistance Subsidized Housing applications

The ESOL program at the Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst has served the immigrant community for more than 19 years. Its highly qualified staff introduces best practices in the field.
Our ESOL program is rated among the top programs in New York City and State, and All OF OUR CLASSES ARE FREE.
Our students represent a wide variety of ages, interests and professional backgrounds. Since JCH is located in Brooklyn’s most diverse immigrant community, many of our students have come from Russia, China, Israel, Poland, Pakistan, Turkey, Albania and Latin America. We extend a warm welcome to people from all ethnic, national and religious backgrounds to study English at our school.
How to Enroll Classes are held throughout the year. We offer morning, afternoon and evening classes three or four days a week, depending on the class. The normal semester runs from ten to twelve weeks. There is always a waiting list for classes, so advance registration is necessary.
